Uppgift

You are going to work together with two other students (number is subject to change, depending on class size etc.) to write a text together, where you summarize information that you have read.

In doing so, you are also going to assess the sources of information in terms of accuracy, relevance, reliability, etc., by using a checklist (the CRAAP checklist, see links below).

Furthermore, you are, of course, going to refer to your sources by way of proper, standardized citation in your document.

Details:

English 6

  • Organization: Groups of three or four students (groups to be announced via our learning platform, communication tool, or in class)
  • Deadline: to be announced via our learning platform, communication tool, or in class
  • Platform for handing in: itslearning

    • Part 1 - Voter Fraud in the 2020 U.S. Election

  • Instructions: Find one web source (written in English) that argues for, or against, whether voter fraud occurred in the 2020 U.S. election.
    Evaluate the source, using the CRAAP checklist
  • To hand in: A filled-in version of the CRAAP checklist

    • Part 2 - US Government

  • Instructions: Write a “micro essay” (approx. and no more than 300 words) that provides a brief overview of the US government, using the source(s) listed below.
  • Your essay should include ● one quote, and ● three paraphrased references.
  • Source: Branches of the US govt.
  • To hand in: Your micro essay with citations, including a list of references*, all in one document.
  • File format: Microsoft Word

*Note: For the 2021 spring version of this assignment, you can omit the list of references!

  • Topic : Drugs
  • Group organization: To be announced in class, or via one of our learning platforms/communication tools, based on class size and attendance etc.
  • Sources:
    • at least one book, e.g. for facts on chemistry
    • at least one online source, not Wikipedia
    • if you wish - a Wikipedia article
  • Text type: Comparative essay (NOT providing your own, personal subjective opinions)
  • Details for content: Differences/similarities between Sweden and the USA, regarding the legalization/ban of cannabis for recreational use, and arguments (by the expertise, not yours) for and against
  • Word count: approx. and no more than 600 words + list of references
  • Time: 180 minutes in class/or as homework, depending on circumstances (approx.)

  • DEADLINE: To be announced in class, or via our learning platform tools etc., after discussion with class.
  • To hand in:
    • Your document, in Microsoft Word format (do not forget to change language settings to English)
    • A filled in copy of the CRAAP checklist
  • Misc.: Highlight your reporting verbs with a yellow background.
