Notes:
There is no universal standard for naming text types,
so one and the same text type can sometimes have more than one name.
Also, some text types are similar to, overlap, each other.
Your teacher will give you detailed information if needed.
Two of the text types in the written production column above are highlighted with bold text to indicate that they are the most common texts that you will write in our courses.
- In an argumentative essay, you SHOULD include your own subjective opinion.
- In a discursive essay, however, you should NOT include your own subjective opinion (but arguably want to mention the opinions that other people might have on the topic).
